Mavis I. “Mayme” Bonnell, 84, passed away December 2, 2020, at 9:40 pm, at The Inn at Northwood Village in Dover, Ohio.

Mavis was born January 25, 1936 in Guernsey County, OH, to Lloyd and Edna (Black) Couts, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 17, 1955 she married Ronald Bonnell who preceded her in death on January 15, 2019.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and greatly enjoyed attending for many years. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital for 32 years, where she served those in need when they needed it most. She was an excellent homemaker, and she loved her family above all else. She was a loving mother and grandmother, as well as a deeply supportive wife to her beloved husband. Mavis was an exceptional woman, and she will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mavis is survived by her children, Vicki Lee (Edward) Rufener of Dover, OH, Deborah Kay (David) Sprowl of New Haven, IN, Gregory Allen (Rebecca) Bonnell of Orient, OH and Douglas Edward (Pamela) Bonnell of Tomball, TX, her sister, Karen Smith, as well as 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Edna Couts, her husband, Ronald Bonnell, her daughter, Nancy Louise Bonnell, as well as her sister, Shirley Foraker.

A private entombment with committal service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima. Rev. John Foster to officiate the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Memorial Hospital with attention to their volunteer program or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
