Matthew R. Nolte, 35, of Lima passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 8, 1987, in Lima to Edward T. and Maria (Potter) Nolte, who survive in Lima.
Matt attended St. Rose Catholic School before attending Lima Senior High School. He was previously employed at Mattress Firm.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He currently was coaching his sons’ basketball team at Elida. Matthew was a devoted Cincinnati Bengals fanatic with a tremendous passion for sports. He was an exceptional father to his two children Breanna and Dalton, as well as, a loving son, brother, cousin, friend, who loved with all his heart.
Erics’ passing left an extraordinary void in his brothers’ lives. They always looked up to him and knew he would guide them through anything in life. Matthew now joins him and re-unites with his big brother.
Surviving are his children Breanna and Dalton; his brother Jared Nolte, of Lima; his sister-in-law Jenna Nolte, of Lima; his niece and nephew Hayden and Madalynn Nolte, of Lima; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother Eric J. Nolte; his maternal grandparents Richard and Janet Potter, of Lima; his paternal grandparents Donald T. (Helen Louise) Nolte, Sr; his uncles Karl M. and John C. Nolte.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday January 19, 2023; and from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday January 20, 2023, at CHILES- LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, where a parish wake service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday. Please wear your Bengals/NFL attire to honor Matthew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Rose Catholic Church, with Father David M. Ross officiating.
Entombment will immediately follow the mass in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ed and Maria Nolte to support his children; Dalton and Breanna.
