Mary Rose Paige, 96, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at 5:28 a.m. at Lima Convalescent Home surrounded by her family.
Mary was born Jan. 25, 1923 in Lima, OH, to Peter and Mary (Doragrichia) Griffo who preceded her in death. On June 25, 1942 she married Orville “Charles” Paige who preceded her in death in 1984.
To know her was to love her. She will fondly be remembered for her witty sense of humor and warm embrace. She relished in the simple pleasures of Italian cooking and baking and was always up for a game of Skip-Bo, Rummy or Euchre. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family. She will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate to know her. Mary was a member of St. Charles Church. She was a long-time employee of J.C. Penney in the credit department.
Survivors include: Children: Ken (Kathy) Paige of Lima, Steven Paige of Chicago, Gloria Steeb of Perrysburg, Carolyn (Keith) Frankl of Denver, Patti (Tony) DePalma of Lima; Grandchildren: Brian (Maggie) DePalma, Matt (Annie) DePalma, Nick (Samantha) DePalma, Michael DePalma, Elizabeth DePalma, Paige Rosemary Frankl, Charley Paige, Aidan Paige, Landon Paige, Michael Steeb, Tony (Jessica) Steeb and Nick (Jen) Steeb and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, Larry Paige; a son-in-law: John Steeb; brothers, John (Harriet) Griffo, Nick (Dorothy) Griffo and Jerome (Sophie) Griffo; and a sister, Ann (Harold) Zimmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at St. Charles Church, with Fr. Kent Kaufman and Fr. David Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice, St. Charles Parish or the American Cancer Society.
