Mary M. Gonter, age 89, was called into the presence of the Lord at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

Mary was born June 12, 1932 in Anchor, KY, to the late Steve and Susie (Taylor) Hamilton.

Mary was proud that she graduated later in life from Lima Senior High School in 1974. She had worked at various Dry Cleaners in the Lima area and retired from Thatcher Dry Cleaners in Fremont, Ohio. Mary was an avid reader, hard worker and enjoyed walking. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Marcus) Cole of Lima and Sandra (John) Saldano of Lakeview, CA; three grandchildren, Michael Cole of Tampa, FL, Jennifer Magrum of Lima, Briana Wynters of Lakeview, CA; great-grandson, Logan Magrum of Findlay; three sisters, Fran Baker of Barbourville, KY, Hazel Moore of Barbourville, KY and Jerry Brooks of Clinton, TN.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Hembree on October 30, 1969, 2nd husband, Karel Gonter on December 7, 2002; two brothers, Dan Hamilton, James Hamilton and sister, Vina Gossard.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Pastor Mark Bayliff will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery, Alger, OH.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the funeral home prior to the service.
