Mary J. Wilkins, age 95 of Lima, died January 16, 2023, at 12:50 p.m. at The Springs of Lima.
She was born April 12, 1927 in Helena, MO, to the late W.P. and Clorah (Smith) Acord. She was also predeceased by three brothers: K.W. Acord, Leslie Acord and Sherman Dean Acord, and one sister, Betty Myers.
On August 9, 1952 she married Melvin D. Wilkins who preceded her in death on June 30, 1999.
She is survived by a son, Mark D. Wilkins, daughter-in-law, Jill Wilkins both of Harrison, OH and granddaughters, Jessica (Blayne) Buckler of Milford, OH and Katelyn Grace Wilkins of Harrison, OH.
She graduated from Ohio State and Bowling Green University. She taught at Elida Elementary School for 25 years and was a member of Gardendale Church of God. She was a member of Allen County Retired Teacher Association, Lima Friends of the Library and Johnny Appleseed Park District.
A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday January 27, 2023 at Allentown Cemetery. Her memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Justin Musto officiating.
