Mary Eleanor Vermillion, 97, passed away on January 22, 2023, at 2:28 pm, at the Beehive Homes of Springboro, surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was born August 21, 1925 in Lima, OH, to Ruth (Lies) Rhoda and Carl Rhoda who preceded her in death. On November 11, 1945 she married E. Burdette Vermillion who passed away April 26, 2000.
Eleanor graduated from Lima South High School in 1943. Mrs.Vermillion worked at Rhoda Brothers Inc. until she retired. She was a life long member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church where she was a member of the Builders Class. She enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-ins of the church for many years with her friend Betty. She was a member of the Lima Area Parkinson Support Group. Eleanor also enjoyed playing cards with her high school friends who formed their own monthly pinochle club.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Jan (Mike) Schuster of Springboro, OH, grandchildren, Leslie Moss, Knoxville, TN, Christopher “Chris” (Ashley) Vermillion of Kettering, OH, Stephanie (Frank) Forde of Lakewood, OH, Lauren (Eric) Busche of Liberty Township, OH, Jennifer Schuster of Madera, OH, Scott (Molly) Schuster of Cleves, OH, six great-grandchildren and sister Ruth Ann Loar.
She was preceded in death by two sons Ron Vermillion, Don Vermillion and a sister Dorothy McNett.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00am at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Deacon Alisha Moore to officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical and Reformed Church, 320 W Wayne Street, Lima, Ohio 45801.
