Martha “Marty” Golding, 91, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her residence.
Marty was born on July 18, 1927 in West Louisville, KY to Charles and Mary (Cooms) O’Bryan. On October 8, 1949, she married Raymond Golding, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Clifford, and brothers Leroy, Cletus, Roger, Anthony, Thomas, John, and sisters Cleo, Margaret and Mary.
Survivors include a son, Anthony (Patty) Golding of Lima, a daughter Teresa (Dan) Clifford of Lima, six grandchildren Bryan Golding of Findlay, Jennifer (Mark) Scherer of Lewis Center, Jessica (DK) Kelso of Memphis, TN, Allison (Todd) Helline of Lewis Center, Troy (Ashley) Golding of Westerville, and Jaclyn (Bryan) Deemer of Nashville, TN, and seven great-grandchildren Logan, Ava and Quinnlyn Scherer, Brinley, Josie and Zadie Helline and Archer Kelso.
Marty retired from Lazarus and then held part-time retail positions at Phar-Mor and Andersons. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church for the last 64 years. She enjoyed spending time with her large extended family and friends, cheering on the L.C.C. T-Birds at area games and being “Gammy” to her great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to two nieces, Patty Lorms and Kathy Plants, who assisted with her care, Marty’s “Guardian Angels” Bob and Mary Margaret Stolly, her caregiver Linda Gephart, Mercy Health St. Rita’s Hospice, Dr. Karri Krendl, for her many years of kind and excellent care and Father Kent Of St. Charles.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. A parish wake service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Kent Kaufman officiating.
Interment will immediately follow the mass in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or Lima Central Catholic High School.
