Marsha K. McCleary, age 78, passed away February 1, 2021, at 12:55 am, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Marsha was born September 19, 1942, in Decatur, IN, to Clyde L. and Elaine E. (Rogers) Foster who preceded her in death. On November 12, 1960, she married Robert E. McCleary who preceded her in death on January 8, 2014.
Marsha was a 1960 graduate of Monroeville High School in Indiana. She taught sewing classes and was the head seamstress at Sears. Marsha then decided to change vocations and her pursue a career in nursing. She attended the Lima Technical College where she earned an Associates Degree in Nursing and then later a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Ashland University. She worked as a R.N. with the St. Rita’s Medical Center where her field of focus was in psychiatric and mental health. Marsha was the program coordinator of the Geriatric Psych Floor at St. Rita’s Medical Center and was also affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association. Some of Marsha’s interests included reading, sewing, cooking, and spending evenings with her grandchildren for a dinner and a movie.
Marsha is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Stemen and son, Kent (Liz) McCleary both of Lima, OH, 4 grandchildren: Kent McCleary, Joseph (Tasha) McCleary, Sarah (Kane) Brookman and Amanda (Trent) Townsend, 4 great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Jaxson, Kilynn and Ryder, a sister, Jeanie Crates of Monroeville, IN, 2 brothers: Dave (Kathy) Foster and Dan (Patty) Foster both of Decatur, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother in-law, Jon Crates.
There will be a private funeral service held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. The service may be live-stream viewed by the public on the Chiles-Laman website by clicking on the facebook app and then scrolling down to the video in her name. Officiating the service will Pastor Paula Snyder Belousek. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, OH.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Ohio Food Bank.
