Marlene Mae Newman, age 86, was called into the presence of the Lord at 8:40 am on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Marlene was born September 9, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Marion and Ruth (Kratzke) West. On February 8, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Everett “DeWayne” Newman.

Marlene was a 1953 graduate of Lima Central High School. She retired from Lima Memorial Hospital where she worked as an EEG Technician. Marlene enjoyed BINGO and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a proud grandma and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Everett “DeWayne” Newman of Lima; four sons, Ronald W. Newman of TX, Keith D. (Denise L.) Newman of Wapakoneta, Kerry L. Newman of Lima, and Darren D. (Carol) Newman of Lima; eleven grandchildren, Cindy Newman, Nicole (J.W.) Auman, Andy Newman, Lauren (Matt) Elkins, Zach Newman, Alex (Maria Wemhoff) Newman, Jessica (Josh) McNickle, Christopher Newman, Brian (Ashley) Bellamy, Jonathan Newman, and Katie Newman; eight great-grandchildren, Alexandrea, Kylie, Alex, Jax, Brian, Brandon, Shelby and Gaige; brother, Gary (Yolanda) West of Lima, and a sister-in-law, Deb (Dick) Taylor.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Shroyer, and Eileen Kozlowski; and a granddaughter, Cheryl Newman.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Monday, December 14, 2020, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Rev. Dave Mosler will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm Monday, December 14, prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
