Marilyn K. Houston, 77, passed away on January 7th, 2020 at 3:40pm at Lima Memorial Health System surrounded by her loving family & friends.
Marilyn was born on October 8th, 1942 as the 2nd child to George “Kenny” & Lucille (Wilson) Lawson who both preceded her in death. Her older brother, Ron Lawson died earlier this year and his wife Ida still resides in Las Vegas. Marilyn was a 1960 graduate of Lima Senior High School & still held several friendships with her classmates until the day she died. She married Ronald “Ron” N. Houston on July 29th, 1961 who passed away on March 20, 2017 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. They had been married almost fifty six years.
She leaves behind her four children, Julie Roether, Jeff (Tracey) Houston, Andy (Sheris) Houston and Jon (Laura) Houston who all reside in Lima. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Katie (Jordan Shaffer) Oglesbee of Lima, Laiken (Harlen) Amos of Poteau, OK, Lane (Aaliyah) Houston of St. Marys, OH, Konnor Houston of St. Marys, OH, Royce Houston of Lima, Ryder Houston of Lima, Olivia & Kierstin Renner of Lima, Toree Stewart of Lima, Cody & Bella Willoughby of Lima and five great grandchildren: Cayden, Cambri & Chloe Shaffer of Lima, Colton Amos of Poteau, OK & Myla Houston of St. Marys, OH, her brother-In-Law Jim (Alice) Houston of Temple City, CA.
Marilyn worked in the financial trade at several different places including Sears, The Metropolitan Bank, Bank One & Superior Credit Union. She also spent a few years delivering meals for the Lima Council On Aging.
Marilyn enjoyed so many activities. She never missed a game when it came to her children & grandchildren. She also loved watching the Bath High School Girls Softball & Basketball teams over the years. She was considered the “Team Mom” for several years. She loved all of the Ohio sports teams. She was an avid Buckeye, Reds & Browns fan.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Every Sunday everyone would always go to her house for dinner.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Ron Lawson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 11:00AM, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWEE CHAPEL. Pastor Bryan Bucher to officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM and an hour prior of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
