Marilyn Helen Riepenhoff (88) of Lima, OH died on February 2, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born February 20, 1932 to Otto and Edith (Krebs) Schmidt of Lima, OH. She was raised on Albert Street as a child and lived there throughout her life. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1950 and married Thomas L Riepenhoff, June 20, 1953, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by siblings Alma Schlott, Paul Schmidt, Ruth O’Grady, and Jeanne Buchanan.
Marilyn was a loving mother to four children, all graduates of Lima Central Catholic High School; Cathy (James) Corcella of Columbus, Tom (Mary Rigali) Riepenhoff of Lima, Janis (Robert) Sunderhaus of Lima, and Lynn (John) Murray of Columbus. She was a constant supporter and presence in the lives of her 12 grandchildren Tracy Coffman, Katie Parrish, Anna Parlet, John Sunderhaus, Lizzy Parlet, Carly Riepenhoff, Amy Brackman, Tess Wagner, Mary Murray, Bobby Sunderhaus, John Corcella, and Johnny Murray. She enjoyed her time with her eight great grandchildren, Maria, Tommy, Livie, Lucy, Rylan, Chase, Beau and, Luke. She is survived by her sister Barbara Schmidt of Lima and Jack (Eleanor) Schmidt of Columbus.
Marilyn worked for more than 30 years as the business manager at the ARC of Allen County serving the Camp Robin Rogers program and residential group living in the Lima area. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church, and a member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed her friendships in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and spent her retirement years volunteering for the St. Vincent DePaul Society and spending time with her family on the Lake Erie Islands.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the St. Rita’s Hospice. Special thanks to the staff at St. Rita’s for their love and care. A private family service is being arranged by Chiles-Laman Funeral Home with a Catholic burial at Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima, OH.
