Marilyn A. Walsh of Lima, age 93 found peace with the Lord, Sunday, September 4, 2022 at The Springs of Lima.

She was born July 23, 1929 in Lima to Bernard and Pauline (Cremean) Mertz who preceded her in death. On October 28, 1950 she married the love of her life, John R. Walsh, Sr. who preceded her in death on August 7, 1987. She had been widowed for 35 years.

They were blessed with three sons whom they adored: John R. (Mary) Walsh, Jr. of Findlay, Bob (Julie) Walsh of Lima, Mark B. (Sharon) Walsh of Beavercreek, grandchildren: John Joseph Walsh (dec’d), Janice (Toby) J. Jercovich, Jackie (Mike) E. Kantner, Tyler Walsh, Jordan (Nick) Huffman, Sophie Walsh; step-grandchild, Casey; great-grandchildren: Caterina, Giordano, Giuliana, Rosalia, Lilah, Ellowyn and baby Huffman on the way and a beloved sister in-law, Marilyn Walsh.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, James and Mildred Mertz, and her stepmother, Edith Mertz.

She was a 1947 graduate of Lima Central High School and had worked at City Loan in her younger years. She was then the bookkeeper and secretary for Johnny Walsh Auto Sales. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church for 65 years, and with her husband, they were very active in the Parish and the L.C.C. community. She could be seen attending her sons various school and sporting events. She was an avid follower of the Big Red Machine, loved watching golf and tennis on television in her later years, but most of all was her love and compassion for her family and friends. Special thanks to her most trusted friend, Sadie Bourk of Lima. Her family wishes to thank the staff at The Springs of Lima for her care there for nearly four years.

Her Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with Fr. Dennis Walsh, her nephew officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the Mass in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church.
