Marie D. Mooney, 89, of Lima passed away at 2:24 AM on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on May 2, 1932 in Lima to Nicholas and Margaret Mary (Pasquali) French, who both preceded her in death. On July 10, 1954, she married Patrick R. Mooney, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2000.
Marie worked as an office clerk for over 40 years at Montgomery Wards and retired in 1986. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a former member of the Loyal order of the Moose, Lodge 297, the Lima Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie 370, the Orioles Nest 173, the American Legion, Post 96 and the VFW Post 1275.
She was also a volunteer at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She loved going to casino’s and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons John (Marcia) Mooney of Elida, Patrick “Bud” (Robin) Mooney, Jr. of Lima and Tim Mooney of Lima; her seven grandchildren Brian (Traci) Mooney, Shelly (Matt) Metzger, Michael Mooney, Lauren (Nick) Numbers, Chelsea (Pete) Hill, Brittany (Drew Koch) Mooney and Mitchell Mooney; her six great-grandchildren; her in-laws Jean French, Eileen Maxwell, Rosemary Mooney, Tom (Melinda) Mooney and Sue (Mike) Barton; many nieces and nephews; her cat Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Carmen French, Carl (Rita) French and Joseph French; her in-laws Martha (Paul) Eley. Charles Mooney, Paul Mooney, John Mooney, Mary (Butch) Hoehn.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with Father Kent Kauffman officiating.
Interment will immediately follow the mass in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
