Marica Carter, age 85, passed from this life on Saturday October 6, 2018 at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Lima.

She was born November 29, 1932 in Tuscaloosa, AL, to the union of Wilbur Davis and Zuella Russ who preceded her in death. On July 6, 1953 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Henry G. Carter who preceded her in death on April 5, 1986.

Marica graduated from Lima Central High School. She was retired from Lima Memorial Hospital’s dietary department after 22 years. She also was employed with the Lima City Schools and BP. Marica loved the Lord and was very inspirational, always giving good advice. She enjoyed cooking and fishing. She was a very strong, encouraging mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Marica was always very fashionable. She loved her dog, Joy.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her 3 sons, Onnie (Jeannie) Cooper, Fredrick Carter, both of Alabama and Henry Carter Jr. of Lima; 7 daughters, Vicki Carter, Juliette Dugger, Marica (Johnny) Cannon, Priscilla (Odell) Walton, all of Lima, Phyllis (Herbert) Doswell of Dayton, Debra Aldridge and Emma Carter, both of Florence Al.; 24 grandchildren and 1 special grandson, Antonio Carter, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leave 2 sisters, Bonita (Rodney) Beauford of Baylor, TX and Rosalyn Chatman of Wilburn, FL; 2 brothers, Marion Davis of Dayton and Maurice Davis of St. Louis MO and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Zelma.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shama Joy Carter, grandson, Jamel Carter, 2 sisters Linda Jenkins and Pearl Johnson and 1 brother, Wilbert Davis Jr.

Services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday , October 13, 2018 at Christian Faith Assembly, 525 W. North St., Lima, Pastor John Cannon to officiate the service. Burial will follow the service in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, October 12, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL and 1 hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
