Lucille D. Hauenstein, 90, passed away at 11:12 am January 25, 2022 at Burton’s Ridge, surrounded by her family and while listening to her favorite song Amazing Grace. Lucille was called to Heaven by our Lord and Savior.

She was born August 30, 1931 in Kalida, Ohio to the late Joseph and Engelena (Schamber) Geckle. Lucille graduated from Kalida High School in 1950. She was a member of the marching band and also a cheerleader. While in school Lucille worked for Prowant Concessions at county fairs, for JoAnn and Ray Prowant.

On August 18, 1951 she married Dwight Gene Hauenstein of Bluffton who preceded her in death. They were married for 65 years.

Lucille was a proud Carny and traveled the fairs with the photo trailer and other booths. Her favorite ride was the Merry-Go-Round. After leaving the fair life, she worked for St. Rita’s Medical Center where she retired from Central Processing Department. Lucille also worked on the Election Board, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was a member of Eagles # 370. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch talking to neighbors and loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include: 2 Sons, Eugene (Lori) Hauenstein of Harrod, Dennis (Yvette) Hauenstein of Waynesfield; a Daughter, Brenda (Mark) Buchanan of Waynesfield; 8 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Robert W. Geckle of Lakeview, Glen Geckle of Melbourne, Florida.

She was preceded in death by: a Great-Grandson, Kingston Kraus of Lambertville, MI; 4 Brothers, Ray, Bill, Burt, and Laverne Geckle; 4 Sisters, Helen, Ella, Freda, and Lavon.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday and services will be at 10:00 am Monday at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES EASTSIDE CHAPEL with Pastor Jason Hinkle officiating, burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ft. Jennings.
