Louis “Shorty” Campbell, Jr., 96, passed away on January 28, 2021, at 4:05 pm, Lima Manor Nursing Home.
Louis “Shorty” was born October 15, 1924 in Memphis, TN, to Louis and Anne (Clark) Campbell who both preceded him in death.
Shorty enlisted in the United States Army and was in the Korean Conflict. Shorty was the proud owner of Shorty’s Bar from the 1960s to the mid 1990s. He was a member at the American Legion 96. During his retirement years he enjoyed hanging out on his porch. Shorty liked playing cards, gambling and watching race horsing, specifically the Kentucky Derby. Shorty cherished his family dearly and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shorty is survived by his children, Glenn (Sharon) Dixon of Lima, OH, Chloe (Bill) Jeffers of Lima, OH, Anthony Campbell of Lima, OH, Lakita (Wesley) Wells of Lima, OH, Lashelle Newland of Chicago, IL, Terresha Campbell of Toledo, OH, nineteen grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, special niece, Emma Jean Phillips of Toledo, OH.
He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Dixon, siblings, Morris Edwards, Mattie Granger, Bessy Lou Garner, Clarence Campbell, Pollie Baxter, Charity Campbell, Bettie Gaston, Robert Campbell and Mattie Mae Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 1:00pm at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Rev. Austin Lewis to officiate the service. Burial will be in Bluelick Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
