Larry D. Freed, age 87 of Lima, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at 11:55 a.m., Springview Manor Nursing Home.

He was born August 29, 1934 in Allen County, the son of Ben and Fern (Johnson) Freed who preceded him in death. On Aug. 25, 1956, he married Ruth E. Thomas, who died May 30, 2015. They were married for 58 years.

Mr. Freed retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant where he worked for 32 years. He is a member of the Lima Community Nazarene Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren. He was fond of his classic cars. He loved to go on trips, camping and working in the garden. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include two sons: Michael Lee (Kathleen) Freed of Lima and Timothy Wayne (Laura) Freed of Elida and five awesome grandchildren: John Freed, Andrew (Samantha) Freed, Nathan Freed, Stacey (Emilee) Freed and Alexander (Bailey Arthur) Freed and one great-granddaughter, Noella.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann Freed and the following siblings: Gary Freed, Jeanne Dellinger, Carol Fowler, Robert J. Freed and Ronald A. Freed.

Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 at Lima Community Church with Rev. Doug Boquist to officiate the service. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Thursday, from 2-8 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
