Larry Allen Flippin, 70 of Elida, passed away Friday August 6, 2021 at 7:57 pm, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Larry was born January 25, 1951, in Lima to Dean and Marie (Hainen) Flippin. On October 7, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Vicki (Nigh) Flippin, who survives him in Elida.

Larry is survived by his loving daughters, Melissa (Bruce) Komarek of Celina, Jennifer (Doug) Lang and Erin (Zach) Hutson, both of Elida; grandchildren, Claire Komarek, Keegan Lippert-Hutson, Piper Lang, Ava Lang, Mia Hutson and Porter Hutson; brother, Lonnie (Dorothy) Flippin of Lima; sister-in-law, Kathy Flippin of Wapakoneta, mother-in-law, Pat Nigh of Lima, brother-in-law, Greg (Linda) Nigh of Wapakoneta and his nephews and nieces. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gary Flippin; father-in-law, Bob Nigh; mother-in-law, Marijune Long and brother-in-law, Mark Nigh.

Larry was a graduate of Lima Senior High School Class of 1969. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation following 33 years of service, ending his career as a Real Estate Specialist.

Larry was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, member of the Lima Fraternal Order of Eagles, as well as a diehard Ohio State Buckeye. His hobbies included golfing, fishing and many years of playing softball. Larry enjoyed spending time with family, watching his grandchildren’s various activities and spending time in his garden.

In honoring Larry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
