Kevin E. Meyer, 70 of Elida, passed away June 3, 2022, at 3:00 AM, Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by his loving family.
Kevin was born November 20, 1951 in Lima, to Elmer and Elizabeth (Maloney) Meyer, who preceded him in death. On January 2, 1971, he married Mary (Zuercher) Meyer, who survives him in Elida.
Kevin was a 1970 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and worked as a cable splicer at Century Link until his retirement in 2001. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War; he was awarded the Bronze Star for his courageous service. Kevin was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and he loved tinkering in his shop. He loved gardening and he never missed any of his grandkids’ sporting events. Most of all, Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his wife, Kevin is survived by his children, Missy (Scott) States and Joel (Jamie) Meyer; grandchildren, Brittany (Derrik) Charles, Jordan Coates, Lindsey (Peter) Jakes, Jacob Meyer, Zac States, Jade Meyer, Jonah Meyer, Julia (Faith) Gamble and Desi Coomes; great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Bo, Sadie & Levi; siblings, Kathy (Larry) Mart and Greg Meyer and his sisters-in-law, Marilee Zuercher and Ann (Maurice) Bryan
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanne (Henrie) Keykens and Nancy (Bill) Nichols; brother-in-law, Robert Zuercher; sisters-in-law, Deb Meyer and Barb Zuercher and his in-laws, Jerome and Ruth Zuercher.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Father Mike Sergi to officiate the service. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio and St. Gerard Catholic Church.
