Kathryn Violet (Sparlin) Lepley passed away on March 12, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on May 23, 1937, to Richard Olin Sparlin and Cora Elizabeth (Schmidt) Sparlin. She had 12 siblings: Glen, Dorothy, Charles, Richard Bruce, Vera, Clara, Virginia, Martha, Benjamin (“Benny”), Rex, Edith, and a brother Jack that passed away as an infant.
Kathryn was a proud graduate of Flora Township High School. She met Richard Eugene Lepley while he was working for the Standard Oil Company and was renting a room across the street from her family home. They were married on December 24, 1955. They settled down from Richard’s traveling job to live in Lima when Richard got a job at the Lima Refinery. They have 3 children: Stephen, Bruce, and Sandra. As a family they went on various vacations together, including regular trips to Myrtle Beach. Kathryn enjoyed various pastimes such as knitting, crocheting, and playing games like Skip-Bo with her grandchildren when they were young. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her husband Richard preceded her in death on December 20, 2020. Kathryn is survived by her three children: Stephen A. (Karen) Lepley of Montague, MA, Bruce A. (Lorraine) Lepley of Gambrills, MD, and Sandra K. Honigford of Delaware, OH; her seven grandchildren: Matthew (Megan) Endersby of Medina, OH, Chelsea Honigford of Canal Winchester, OH, Katie (Jeremy) Parkins of Atlanta, GA, Kylie (Tim) Lawrence of Scottsdale, AZ, Amanda Lepley of Gambrills, MD, Thomas (Stephanie) Lepley of Bexley, OH, and James Lepley of Gambrills, MD; her five great-grandchildren: Arabella, Brooklyn, William, Elivia, and Sage; and three sisters: Vera Craig, Virginia Johnson, and Clara Booth.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Pike Mennonite Church, 3995 McBride Rd, Lima, OH 45807. Burial will follow in Pike Mennonite Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pike Mennonite Church.
