Jon P.N. Mosel, age 73, died at 10:17 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019, at his home with his wife and son by his side.
Jon was born May 17, 1945 to the late Eldon K. and Dorothy M. (Nelson) Mosel. On March 9, 1968 he married the girl next door, Peg A. (Schepp) Mosel who survives in Lima.
Jon was a 1963 graduate of Lima Senior High School, where he lettered in three sports and competed at the state level in track. He attended The Ohio State University, majoring in art. Jon proudly served in the United States Navy, where he served as a Boatswain’s Mate on the USS Belmont. Jon retired in 2001 from the BP Chemical Plant, where he was Chief Operator of the Blender Unit. Jon had the distinction of being the only person qualified to run every unit in the plant. He loved all animals and critters, especially dogs. Jon enjoyed nature, being outdoors, and the universe. Jon loved to mow the yard and when asked about his hobbies he would respond “I fix stuff.”
He is survived by his wife, Peg A. (Schepp) Mosel of Lima; two children Jon Scott and Ana Rina Mosel of Arlington, VA and Jennifer P. Mosel of Juneau, AK; two grandsons, Alexander Scott Mosel and Nicholas Jon Edward Mosel; brother, Dexter and Joan Mosel of Bellevue, Ohio and a sister, Robin and Wayne Myers of Seabrook, TX; brother-in-law, Mike and Mary Lou Schepp of Lima, OH; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his in-laws, Henry R. and Ruth (Hasson) Schepp, and two sisters-in-law, Suzanne Rebecca Schepp and Kathleen Elizabeth Everett.
Services celebrating Jon’s life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Services will be conducted by his son, Jon Scott Mosel. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jon’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his caregiver and friend, Shawna Freed Lewis and Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Hospice.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish a scholarship fund for Jon’s grandchildren.
