John W. McPheron, 79, passed away on December 21, 2021, at 4:50 am, at the Vancrest of Delphos.
John was born August 25, 1942 in Lima, OH, to Wesley and Ruth (Gossard) McPheron who preceded him in death. On June 8, 1968 he married Marilyn (Klotz) McPheron who survives in Elida, OH.
John graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1960. He then graduated from The Ohio State University in 1968 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He later received his Masters Degree from Wright State University. John was an English Teacher at Allen East Middle School, where he later retired after thirty years of service. Some of his hobbies included gardening, fishing, and watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. John was quite the handy man and took great pride in his woodworking. John also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s various sporting events. He was member of the Lima Eagles #370 and the Delphos Eagles #471. John loved his wife and cherished his children and grandchildren very much.
John is survived by his wife, Marilyn McPheron of Elida, OH, children, John Thomas “Tom” (Molly) McPheron of Marysville, OH, Melissa “Missy” (Jeff) Engle of Elida, OH, grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” (Natalie) McPheron of Athens, OH, Jack McPheron of Marysville, OH, Lauren Engle of Elida, OH, Brice Engle of Elida, OH, siblings, Marilyn (Frank) Selvaggio of Elida, OH, Karen (Richard “Dick”) Bruns of Columbus, OH, and Dorothy Swick of Elida, OH.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael “Mike” McPheron.
Visitation with be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm with a small Celebration of Life to follow at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or The Elida Athletic Boosters.
