John W. “Johnny Tatt” Butler, 63 of Lima, passed away January 31, 2021, at his home.
John was born May 22, 1957 in Lima, to Merill and Eva Jean (Holbrook) Butler, who preceded him in death. On June 13, 1987, he married Marilynn (Clay) Butler, who preceded him in death on July 16, 2020.
John attended Bath High School and was the owner and operator of Tattoos By The Butler. He was a wonderful, talented musician who had many bands; Pressed for Time and Johnny Tatt, to name a few. When John no longer played in his bands, he spent his time sharing his talent and love for music with those in nursing homes and the elderly daycare center. He was a member of the Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club, the Cleveland Browns Backers and he had a wonderful sense of humor; there was never a shortage of laughs when John was around. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends who will miss him dearly. We can all take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with the love of his life, Marilynn, and that she was waiting on him with open arms.
John is survived by his sisters, Merillyn Paxson, Inga Skorupski, Ann (Kenny Howard) Newland and Shelly Borger, sisters-in-law, Darla Butler, Kathleen (Don) Miller and Jeanette (John) Evans; brothers-in-law, Robert (Denise) Clay, Daniel (Adelle) Clay and Donald Clay; numerous nieces and nephews, including Adrianna, Mikey and BreBre, with whom he shared a special bond; many great nieces and nephews, one great-great niece and his dog, Gladys Mae.
In addition to his wife and parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Marty Butler; brothers-in-law, Dean Paxson and Jim Skorupski; nephew, David Cook; niece, Holly Butler; great-nephew, Damien and another special angel in heaven.
