John Murray passed away on January 29, 2021 at Lima Memorial Health System.

John was born in Scotland on March 21, 1940 to Robert and Mary Murray. On September 24, 1960 he married Greta and they had three daughters. He is survived by his wife Greta of Lima, Ohio and their daughters, Lesley (Bob) Cook of Lima; Shona Goldberg of Toronto, CA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Although British by birth, he was a citizen of the USA and Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Isabell Bond of Scotland, and his daughter, Heather Warm, of Canada.

John retired as a Consulting Engineer in 2003. He began working in the chemical and explosives industry for 9 years in Scotland before emigrating in 1966. He then spent 37 years working in the Pulp and Paper Industry in Canada, Iran, Argentina, Brazil and the USA.

Upon retiring he turned his deep knowledge about Single Malt Scotch Whisky into forming Murray’s Malts with his wife Greta, a company in which they held Whisky tastings and educating clients as they sampled Single Malts into pleasures of nosing and tasting the best of Scottish exports.

John was an avid reader and was content to sit in his library and read one of his 1200 books. His greatest pleasure was being at home, or traveling, with his wife Greta sitting beside him. He is gone, but will not be forgotten. FLY, FLY, LITTLE WINGS.

A private graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery, with his immediate family on February 4th, 2021. Much appreciation to Bob Laman and staff at Chiles-Laman, Shawnee.
