On January 16, 2021, John M. Symonds II no longer had to imagine what that day would be like. He went to Heaven to be with our Lord and now lives in peace and serenity. He passed surrounded by his family and the comforting staff at St. Ritas Medical Center.

John was born on April 27, 1963 to John M. Symonds I and Barbara (Wolfe) Symonds. His mother survives in Troy, Ohio. John was also blessed with three beautiful children who survive him: Brittany (Kenny) Owens, Wesley Symonds, and Eric (Kara) Layman.

On December 29, 2013, he married Rebecca (McCune) who survives in Lima Ohio. At that time he became an amazing bonus father to Rachel (Eric) Schearer, Holly (Sean) Goodwin and Erin (Matthew) Otto.

John graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1982. He studied at Lima Technical College and has spent most of his life managing restaurants.

John was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many people. His unconditional love changed so many of us. He lived his life one day at a time and taught us all to not sweat the small stuff. He loved music, amusement parks, woodworking, antique shopping and flea markets. But most of all he loved his family. His sarcastic comments and wit that either made us laugh or roll our eyes will be missed by many. John had a very quiet faith and loved Jesus. He is flying high now and watching over all of those he loved so very much. He is truly a guardian angel to us all.

John is also survived by two sisters, Melanie Haggard and Linda (Bob) Deal; one brother, Keith Symonds (Chris Pearson Morris); 10 grandchildren, Olivia, Kenley and Kaleb Owens; Theodore Layman; Dakota Pohlman, Julianne Badertscher, Chase Otto, Abigail and Morgan Schearer, and Olivia Goodwin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and adored very much.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 6:30 p.m at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Home Shawnee Chapel with Reverend Bev Hurlburt officiating. There will be a public visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, Ohio on Friday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Autism Society of America, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Allen County Humane Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
