John Charles Fisher, 85, of Lima passed away at 2:20 AM on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born on December 13, 1935 in Lima to J. Paul and Margaret (Sharrits) Fisher, who both preceded him in death. On December 17, 1960, he married Marilyn Ruth Guy, who preceded him in death on November 17, 2015.

John worked as the Vice-President of Sales at Fisher Cheese Company, retiring in 1985. Following that he had a successful career as an independent food broker into his 80’s. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.

John was the ultimate extrovert, knowing no stranger. He was quick to pay a compliment and make new friends. He was passionate about his love for Jesus, being a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday School. John was an avid golfer, holding the unofficial record of total rounds played at Shawnee Country Club.

John was very proud of his long-time sobriety, having started on his sobriety journey in 1968. He devoted countless hours over his fifty-three years of sobriety to AA and helping others on their sobriety journey. He passed his wisdom and life lessons on to thousands both in and out of meetings.

Anyone who knew John understood his deep love and affection for his wife Marilyn, his five children and his ten grandchildren. He took great joy spending time with them and attending their activities.

John will be remembered as a man of great generosity and integrity, and for his unwaivering devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed by his family and countless friends.

Surviving are his children Ann (Frank) Mongelluzzo of Dublin, Joy (Brock Douglass) Hermiller of Lima, Matthew (Sharon) Fisher of Dublin, Lyn (Steve) Mulcahy of Lima and Chad (Karem Obando) Fisher of Costa Rica; his grandchildren Abigail and Jack Mongelluzzo of Columbus, Jordan and Jake Hermiller of Carmel, IN, Justin and Allison Fisher of Columbus, Meghan, Mary Kelly, Erin and Bridget Mulcahy all of Lima; his sisters Kate (Ted) Stepleton of Lima and Peggy (William) Allen of LaFollette, TN; his sisters-in-law Barb Fisher of Lima, Margery May of Connecticut and Joanne Guy of Elida; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Christopher Hermiller; his brother Jim Fisher; his sisters Sally Tebben and Lillian Schnabel; his brother-in-law Tom Guy.
