John C. Gavalas, 72, passed away on August 9, 2022, at 11:50 am, at Roselawn Manor.
John was born October 3, 1949 in Lima, OH, to George and Christine (Kanistros) Gavalas who both preceded him in death.
John graduated from Elida High School in 1967. He worked for Tiltons Corporation Company and had various assignments at the Lima Refinery and Chemical Plant. John was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. When he was younger him and his brother always enjoyed fishing and hunting together. John was known for having a good heart, never had a whole lot but whatever he had he was willing to let anyone borrow it as long as they brought it back in one piece. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his brother, Arthur “Bill” (Judy) Gavalas of Lima, OH, and nieces and nephews, Thomas, Andrea, Cassie and Michael.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Tom” Gavalas.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00am at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Chaplain Mark Lovely to officiate the service. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of the service.
