Joanne Mary Conrad, age 75, passed away peacefully at 8:16 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

Joanne was born October 6, 1947 in Chicago, IL, to the late Leonard and Bernice (LaVoy) Gorny. On November 14, 1970 she married Robert Wesley Conrad who preceded her in death.

Joanne was a 1965 graduate of Alvernia High School in Chicago, Illinois. She retired from Recon Optical in Barrington, Illinois after 15 years of service. Joanne was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading and attending outdoor concerts with her Riverwalk community. Most of all, she was a loving mom and grandma who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, never missing her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Elizabeth) Conrad of Lima, Brian Conrad of Barrington, IL and three grandchildren, Troy, Sam and Charlotte Conrad.

In addition to her parents and former husband, she is preceded in death by her longtime companion, John Dillon.

A service celebrating Joanne’s life will be held at a later date.
