Jean Ann Long, 69 of Lima, passed away March 14, 2023, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Jean was born April 30, 1953 in Lima to Howard Haviland and Betty (Hadsell) Haviland-Ziegenbusch, who preceded her in death. On June 28, 1995, she married Rick Long who survives her in Lima.
Jean was a 1971 graduate of Shawnee High School and worked at Allen County Job and Family Services until her retirement in 2018. She attended Shawnee Alliance Church and she enjoyed traveling and vacationing. Jean had a kind heart and she cared dearly for those close to her. She loved dance; whether it was participating in it, teaching it or watching it, dance held a special place in her heart. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren; she loved attending their events. Jean will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her children, Jeff (Bic) Boyles, Angie (Brad) Rex and Christina (Joe) Bender; step-children, Laurie (Bill) Furry and Chad (Cathy) Long; grandchildren, Neil Boyles, Riley Boyles, Emma Rex, Kyle Rex, Tate Bender and Claire Bender; step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Long, McKenzie Long, Drew Long and Colton Long; brother, James (Diana) Haviland; step-sisters, Kathy Raines and Karen Matthews; brothers-in-law, Dave (Diane) Long and Gary Long; her loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her loving dog, Rudy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Ken Ziegenbusch.
Jean’s family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the team at St. Rita’s Medical Center ICU who provided such wonderful, compassionate care.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Shawnee Alliance Church, East Campus. Entombment will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
