Eltopia, WA formerly of Lima

Janet Lee Weaver, age 82, passed away October 15, 2022, at her home in Eltopia, Washington. She was born on November 25, 1939, in Hardin County, Ohio to Wilda Line and Gerald Scott. Janet married Robert Lee Weaver in April 1958. He passed in 2002. Janet and Bob were concerned about survival and preparedness, and they taught many people about preparedness. Janet worked with a company called Sam Andy, one of the first companies to make freeze dried canned food available.
Janet enjoyed retail sales and worked in the millenary department, Kmart, and Robert Halls. She also worked in the Lima Ohio library converting the Dewey system into a new computer system. Janet nannied for a couple of years and also delivered food to elderly people with the Meals on Wheels program.
Janet was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved working with the youth, working on genealogy, and serving in the Columbus Ohio Temple. She loved sewing, camping, fishing, boating, traveling, word puzzles, ice cream stands, drives to the lake, and playing cards with friends and family. Memorable mornings were spent having coffee and rolls with her mom, Wilda. One of her greatest joys was visiting her family no matter where they lived in the US or around the world. Janet loved family vacations, reunions, and picnics. She took care of her father, Gerald Scott, for over 20 years.
She started losing her hearing in her 40s which changed her life. In her 70s she received a Cochlear implant which also changed her life. She was so happy ‘to be able to hear the birds again’.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Wilda Scott and her husband, Robert Lee Weaver.
She is survived by her children, Tim Weaver of Texas; Melody (Mike) Pope of Lakewood, WA; and April (Mitch) Withers of Eltopia, WA; grandchildren, Nathan Pope, CA; Stephen Pope, WA; Amy Pope, WA; April Pierce, WA; Scott Weaver, TX; Paige Weaver, KS; Robert Weaver, TX; Nikoal Bernice, Pasco, WA; Witneigh (Tanner) Buker, Rexburg, ID; Garisun (Abby) Withers, WA; Madysan (Dawson) Murray, MT, Mandie Withers, and Joshua Withers, Eltopia, WA; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Penny Pope; Malcolm, Ava, and Juliette Pierce; Evy Pope-Morris; and Valkyrie and Olive Pope, Alaiana and Sophia Garcia, Pasco, WA, Lemmon, Forrest and Piper Murray, MT, Mack Weaver, TX and one on the way.
A Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, 3000 W. Harding Hwy., Lima, OH.
