Janet (“Jan”) A. Myers, age 74, passed away February 15, 2022, at 6:20 am, at the Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who met her, she left this world peacefully to rest in her heavenly home.

Jan was born April 20, 1947 in Toledo, OH, to Harold and Catherine (Mclellan) Kasch, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 8, 1967 she married Terry Myers, her husband and best friend of 54 years, who survives in Elida. Jan is survived and eternally loved by her two children, Melissa “Missy” (Shawn) Bowers of Elida, and Brian (Rebecca) Myers of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren, Riley and Logan Bowers, and Eleanor Myers; and brother Richard (Gina) Kasch. She was preceded in death by her brothers- and sisters-in-law Jack and Mary Myers, Joe and Ruth Wassink, and Bob and Mary Lawrence.

Jan graduated from Bowsher High School in Toledo in 1965, and subsequently attended Capital University in Columbus. She worked for thirty-five years for the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation on behalf of the state of Ohio, where she made many lifelong friends and gave many years of dedicated service. She was a longtime and loyal member of Elida Immanuel United Methodist Church, where she greatly enjoyed sharing in fellowship with her church family, attending both in-person and viewing livestreams. Jan was a faithful follower of the Southern gospel quartet, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. She traveled all over the country to watch them perform during retreats, cruises, and concerts, and her extended family continued to grow with each gathering. She cherished time spent with her EHSS family and earned her angel wings listening to their gospel as she went home to meet her savior. She was lovingly known by many as “Grammy Jan,” and was famous for her backyard pool therapy parties. Above all else, Jan loved her family and few things brought her more pleasure than spending time with her loved ones. Her greatest joy was attending her grandkids’ school events and activities, and spoiling them with love at every opportunity. Jan was an exceptional woman and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A public visitation will take place the evening of Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel (1170 Shawnee Road; Lima, OH 45805).
