Janet Irene Thomas

The Lord welcomed Irene into heaven to join her Mom and Dad at 3:45 AM on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Irene was the second child of John and Kathryn (Rigel) Thomas born on June 5, 1942.

She had been a resident of Lima Convalescent Home for many years.

She was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple and was very active for many years. She loved the Lord and could always be found studying and reading her Bible. Being with family was very important to her. Reading and playing Bingo were some of her favorite activities.

After attending Lima Senior High School, she worked at the laundry at the Holiday Inn. Later she volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital.

She survived by her siblings Patricia (John) Mowen, Sandra Downhower and Mary (Ron) Neth-Coy and Mike (Pam) Thomas all of Lima and Jay Thomas of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews Janet (Darren) Sharp of Celina, Erica Thomas of Lafayette, CA, James (Renee) Downhower of Columbus, Jamie (Renzo) Olcese of Goshen, IN, John (Melissa) Neth, Scott (Erin) Neth, Bradley Thomas and Barbara Thomas all of Lima.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law Ronald Neth and James Downhower.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Rev. Jerry Burton will officiate the service.

Interment will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Convalescent Home or the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family wants to thank Lima Convalescent Home for the many years of care they gave Irene.
