Janet C. Carlson, 78, passed away on October 24, 2022 at her home in Lima, Ohio.
She was born on October 9, 1944 in Athens, Ohio to William B. Kayser and Helen Ashcraft Kayser, both deceased. On September 5, 1965, she married Steven M. Carlson, who preceded her in death on October 18, 2022.
Janet attended The Ohio State University and was employed at Battelle Memorial Institute, a scientific research organization in Columbus, Ohio, while her husband attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lima where she taught kindergarten and first grade Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her son Jordan (Anne) Carlson of Cary, NC and daughter, Suzanne (John) Carlson Hays of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Jonah, Ethan, Lauren, and Sarah Carlson, and Sophia Hays; two sisters, Joy (Jerry) Burdette of Coolville, OH and Joan Everett of Belpre, OH; one brother-in-law, Eric (Bonnie) Carlson of Lima; two sisters-in-law, Carol (John) Kiley and Janet Carlson both of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Billy (Joan) Everett, Jr. and Steven (Carol) Perrin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00am at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. At 11:00am, a joint celebration of life service will be held for both Janet and her husband, Dr. Steven M. Carlson. Rev. Gregory Haueter will be officiating.
A private graveside service will be at Elida – Greenlawn Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
