Jane A. (Miller) Moore, age 82, was called into the presence of her Lord at 12:43 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends as they sang her favorite hymns.
Jane was born December 28, 1939 in Lima, OH, to the late John E. and Bessie A. “Betty” (Alger) Miller. She was formerly married to Roger L. Moore who survives in Lakeview, OH.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and was known for her lasagna, chicken -n- dumplings and black raspberry cobbler. She was a longtime member of Lima Baptist Temple, its Adult Bible Class and New Horizons Fellowship. Jane also sang in the Adult Choir and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She was a 1957 graduate of Elida High School. Jane volunteered for the Allen County Council on aging for many years, enjoyed delivering flowers at St. Rita’s Medical Center for over 25 years and she served the community as an Election Day Poll Worker. Her favorite pastimes included sitting around the campfire, family game nights, holiday gatherings, gardening and tending to her flowers. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and pets, Bentley, Bailey and Sami. She loved Southern Gospel Music and attended many concerts. Jane was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. Most of all, Mrs. Moore, loved and served her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by four children, Michelle “Shelly” Moore (Lynn) Smith of Lima, KathieJo Moore (Simon Peter “Pete”) Dove of Lima, Roger “Craig” (Tracy Kissell) Moore of Findlay and Scott D. (Barb Stude) Moore of Lima; ten grandchildren, Rachael (Kyle) Thomas of Indianapolis, IN, Jeffrey Smith of Elida, Brittany Smith of Lima, Jordan Smith of Lima, Shawna Smith of Lima, Dustin Fisher of Lima, Kody (Bridgette) Dove of Harrod, Donovan (Stephanie) Fisher of Elida, Carrie Dove of Lima and Camryn “Cami” (Tyler Huggins) Dove of Piqua; twelve great-grandchildren, Kandi Thomas, Evelyn “Evie” Thomas, Baby Thomas on the way, Christian, Aiden, Eleanor “Ellie”, Isaac and Lincoln Dove, Micaiah, Adeleigh “Addie”, and Soloman Fisher and Ezekial “Zeke” Johnson Dove; longtime friends, Linda Vincent of Lima, Ruth Collins of Cairo and her beloved dogs, Bentley and Bailey and cat, Sami.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her dear brother, Richard E. Miller, grandson, Dallon Ross States and best friend Sharon Bailey.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Lewis Grove Cemetery (Pleasant View Church of The Brethren) 4950 N. Thayer Rd, Lima, OH 45807.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, at the funeral home and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
The family will be wearing Ohio State attire for the visitation and encourage all visitors to wear Ohio State attire as well.
