Jane A. Hites, age 82 of Elida, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 10:50 pm, at Kindred Hospital, Lima.

She was born June 9, 1939 in Lima to Michael and Louise (Lory) O’Brien who preceded her in death. On June 18, 1960, in St. Gerard Catholic Church, she married Wayne Hites who survives.

Survivors include their children: David W. Hites of Lima, Michelle (Bob) L. Corbin of Worthington and Brian (Kelly) K. Hites of Lima; a sister, Susan (Ned’-dec.) Rhoades of Findlay; grandchildren: Sherry Hites and John Hites both of NC, Bo Corbin, Katie Corbin and Sarah Corbin all of Worthington, Tanner Hites, Griffin Hites and Carter Hites all of Shawnee; and great-grandchildren: Isaiah Hites, Hudson Corbin and Penelope Corbin; and a sister-in-law, Dianne O’Brien of Lima.

She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Edward J. O’Brien, Mary L. (Gerald) Panzer and Thomas M. O’Brien.

She was a lifetime member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and a member of the choir. She was a member of Altrusa, active in the YMCA, running 10K and enjoyed golf at Tamarac. She got a hole in one at Lost Creek her first year of swinging the club. She loved most of all, her husband, children and grandchildren. She faithfully attended her grandchildren’s sporting events in elementary and high school, along with college. She enjoyed spending winters in Hilton Head and boating with Wayne on Indian Lake. She loved traveling with her husband all over the country. She was a fan of the Browns and the Buckeyes, and of Shawnee football & basketball. She was an avid sports fan, a selfless individual always caring for everyone else.

Her Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Sergi officiating. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services where a Parish Wake Service will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church or St. Gerard School. Her favorite saying was, “Keep Having Fun!”
