Jan E. Brown, age 80, passed away September 1, 2022, at 5:32 pm, at Lima Memorial Health System. Jan was born July 11, 1942, in Piqua, OH, to Harold R. and Mary E. (Roof) Nordyke who preceded her in death. On December 23, 2000, she married James R. Brown who survives in Lima.
In addition to her husband, Jan is survived by her son, Daniel (Michelle) Higbie of Springfield, OH, 3 grandchildren: Jacob, Ethan and Abbie Higbie, a sister, Patricia (Dave Krohn) Thomas of Paulding, OH and a brother, Ronald (Kathy) Nordyke of Lakewood, CO. She is also survived by her extended family including her step-children: Dave Brown, Dan Brown, Dale Brown, Sara Cardone, Brenda Sunderland, Bob Brown, Phil Maze, Katherine Tessier, Angela Tessier, Scott Brown and Dawn Maze, 26 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren, 4 nieces: Rhonda Spees, Jodi Mendizable, Meghan Upshaw and Erin Encinias and a nephew, Jonathon Spees. She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Jimmie Higbie.
Jan was a 1960 graduate of Bath High School where she was salutatorian. She spent her time through the years with various companies working as a bookkeeper and secretary. She ended her career as a bookkeeper and a notary with her husband in their business, American Autobody. Jan was a member of the Celebration Church formerly the Calvary Chapel of Praise. Jan had been a long-time 4-H advisor with the Allen County Junior Horseman and when she was younger she loved and worked with horses.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 5:30 pm at the Celebration Church @ 1601 Rebecca Dr., Lima, OH. Officiating the service will be Pastor Brandon Green. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Bluelick Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may visit at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. The CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL is honored to be assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
