James “Jim” E. Boggs, age 97, passed away February 27, 2021, at 11:00 pm, at the Springview Manor Nursing Home. Jim was born February 17, 1924, in Russel, KY, to Leonard Boggs and Lillian Blevins who preceded him in death. On March 16, 1946, he married Helen M. (Brammer) Boggs who preceded him in death on September 18, 1990.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Marines where he had served during WWII in the South Pacific. For most of his life he had worked as a master machinist, and retired from a shipyard in Savannah, GA in 1990. After his retirement he worked part-time for Mercer Machine. Jim’s pride and joy was his family and it was where he loved spending his time.
Jim is survived by his son, James (Margaret) Boggs of Westerville, OH, and his daughter, Brenda J. Dulmage of Lima, OH, 4 grandchildren: Jeff (Sarah) Dulmage, James David Boggs, Jarrod (Jordan) Boggs and Lynn (Brian) Jamros, 8 great grandchildren: Grace, Emma and Gabriel Dulmage, Bryan Browning, Kathrine Boggs and Claire Boggs, Sophia and Asher Jamros and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son in-law, Duane Dulmage.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Living Hope Church @ 2701 Allentown Rd., Lima, OH 45805. Officiating the service will be Pastor Buck Sutton. Burial of cremated remains will be in Gethsemani Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Marines and the VFW #1275. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
