James D. “Jim” O’Connor, 82, of Dunedin, Florida and formerly of Lima passed away on April 3, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on August 24, 1939, in Lima to Clarence “Click” and Ethel (Richter) O’Connor, who both preceded him in death. On July 16, 1966, he married Darlene A. Sigler, who survives in Dunedin, Florida.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He had worked at Accubuilt for over 25 years as a painter and retired in 2008. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin, FL and was formerly a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He loved living in Florida and rollerblading in his younger years. He also loved to walk the beach, read, watch NASCAR and attend family gatherings to spend time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene A. O’Connor of Dunedin, FL are his children Patrick J. O’Connor of Lima, Darren J. (Susan) O’Connor of Powell, OH and Marna (Josh) Wende of Lima; his grandchildren Emily, Rachel and Evan O’Connor, Cooper and Carlyn Wende; his siblings Phillip (JoEllen) O’Connor of Chapin, SC, Donald “Donnie” (Becky) O’Connor of Lima and Kathleen (Bill) Neiswander of Appomattox, VA. Also surviving are ten nieces, seven nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kelly O’Connor and his sister Peggy and Tom Cheney; maternal in-laws John and Ethel Sigler; brother-in-law Terry Sigler; sister-in-law Sharon Guiney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 523 N. West St., Lima, OH, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the mass from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Father David M. Ross will officiate the Mass.
Entombment of his cremated remains will immediately follow the mass in the Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum, where active members of the US Army and VFW Post 1275 will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LAM Foundation, 4520 Cooper Road, Suite 300, Cincinnati, OH, 45242 or St. Rose Catholic Church.
