James Arthur “Ketch” Ketcham, II, age 75 of Cairo, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:02 a.m. at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Ketch was born February 20, 1947 in Lima to James and Helen (Fitzgerald) Ketcham who preceded him in death. He was previously married to Ann Catherine (Bailey) Ketcham who survives.

Surviving are his daughters: Stacey Ketcham of North Olmstead, OH, and Tracey (Brian Winget) Ketcham of Lima, OH; three grandchildren: Toree Stewart, Cody Willoughby and Bella Willoughby; a great-granddaughter, Bexley Boyles. He was preceded in death by his Basset Hound, Cletus.

He was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served a tour in Vietnam. He was a deputy for the Allen County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years. He also taught law enforcement at Apollo Vocational School, Findlay University and Tiffin University.After his retirement, he provided security for Magnum Truck Sales. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association. He enjoyed chewing Grizzly Wintergreen Long Cut, going to old car shows and eating breakfast at the Sugar Street Inn. He loved being involved in law enforcement.

Services will begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Justin Courtney officiating the service. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
