James Alan “Jim” Miller, 74 of Lima, passed away September 13, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System.

Jim was born August 25, 1947 in Lima, to Robert and Florence (Ribley) Miller, who preceded him in death.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Lima Senior High School and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Education. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam Conflict and he received a Purple Heart. Jim enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Ohio State fan who enjoyed a friendly rivalry with his son, a fan of “the team up north”. He loved talking to anyone and was friendly, outgoing and always had a smile on his face. Jim enjoyed listening to and playing music; he was a talented pianist and drummer. Most of all, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters whom he adored.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Michelle) Miller of Lima; granddaughters, Lauren and Natalie Miller; brothers, Don “Grub” Miller of Lima, Tim (Nita) Miller of Snellville, GA and David Miller, of Columbus; his former spouse and good friend, Candi Miller of Lima and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, William John Miller and Robert Lynn Miller.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 23, 2021, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family asks that you wear Ohio State gear to celebrate Jim’s life.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Veteran’s Food Pantry.
