Howard William Sherer, 51 of Maineville, formerly of Lima, was welcomed into heaven by his father with a box of donuts and a motorcycle at 12:58 pm on September 30, 2021, at the University of Cincinnati Health, West Chester.
Howard was born September 24, 1970 in Lima, to Gary and Connie (Kimble) Sherer; his father preceded him in death and his mother survives him in Bluffton. On April 8, 2000 he married the love of his life, Joy (Hill) Sherer, who survives him in Maineville.
Howard was a 1990 graduate of Lima Senior High School and he received a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Bluffton University in 1995. Howard currently worked as a social worker at Warren Correctional Institute and he spent most of his career locally at Lima, Oakwood and Allen Correctional. He was a member of Liberty Heights Baptist Church in Lebanon and formerly a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lima. Howard was a football coach for the 1996 championship Lima Senior Spartans and he was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals fan. Most of all, Howard adored his children and loved spending time with them; they made him so proud.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Garrison Sherer; daughter, Laci Sherer; sisters, April (Jim) Moser and Linda Allen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Rosie Hill; nieces and nephews; Amanda Moser, Damon Sherer, Kadesha Allen, Alex Hill, Zach Hill, Aaron Hill, Andrew Hill, Amanda Hill, Austin Hill, Emily Hill, Jordan Hill, Justin Hill, Lilly Hill, Lauren Hill and Katelyn (Lawrence) Wallace; great nieces and nephew, Trinity, Kaliyah and Brantlee; brothers-in-law, Gary Hill, Wendell (Ann) Hill and Tom (Kyra) Hill and his grand-horse, Drustan.
In addition to his father, Howard is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Chris Perry-Hill and his dog, Tobi.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Dennis Moles to officiate the service.
Visitation will be Monday, October 4, 2021, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
