V. Hope Sanders, age 89, passed away January 31, 2019, at 11:56 am, Lima Memorial Health System. Hope was born February 1, 1929 in Coalport, PA, to Rev. Doyle N. and Hazel M. (Duncan) Snow who preceded her in death. On October 17, 1947 she married Howard Richard “Dick” Sanders who preceded her in death on September 15, 1985.
Hope was a 1947 graduate of Lima Central High School. After high school she had worked as a teller at City Bank. She worked for Dr. Albertson Family Practice as a receptionist. Hope had also worked as a secretary with St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She ended her career working with the Lima Public Library. Hope was a 50 year member of First Baptist Church where she was very active in the Naomi Circle, Adult Sunday School and the Good Cheer Class since 1990. She also belonged to the Literacy Council and volunteered with St. Rita’s Medical Center and the Lima Rescue Mission. Hope loved traveling and camping with her husband. She was an avid gardener. She will be remembered as being a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Hope is survived by her children: Vickie (Rick) Carter of Lima, OH, Thomas (Beth) Sanders of Lima, OH, Janet (Fritz) Sanders-Krouskop of Russells Point, OH and Joseph (Lelonie) Sanders of Coshocton, OH, 8 grandchildren: David Carter, Melodie (Jim) Shrider, Jacob Sanders, Alden “Buddy” Hicks, Jodi Reed, Christopher (Shannon) Sanders, Joshua (Jess) Sanders, 14 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild and a sister in-law Lois Snow Caudil of Kenton, OH and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Lyle Snow and Don Snow and a grandson, William “Bill” Sanders.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church @ 451 N. Cable Rd., Lima, OH, 45805. Officiating the service will be Rev. Andrew Shields. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL and then one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
