Homer Allen Gottfried, age 85, passed away January 23, 2021, at 10:44 am, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Homer was born March 15, 1935, in Lima, OH, to Homer Lee and Mary Louise (Mack) Gottfried who preceded him in death.
Homer had attended Lima South High School. He spent his career with West Ohio Gas as a meter reader retiring in 1996 after 41 years of service. Homer will be remembered as having the gift of gab, loving sports of all types, church and most of all gathering with his family.
Homer is survived by his siblings: Carol Ann James of Bellefontaine, OH, Barbara J. (James) Symonds, Donna Marie (James) Frederick, James Russell (Shirley) Gottfried and Diana Lynn (Michael) Hilgert all of Lima, OH, a former sister in-law, Marilyn Gottfried of Wellington, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Lee Gottfried, a sister, Judith Irene (Bill) Yoder, a brother, Michael Dean Gottfried, and a brother in-law, Don James.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Michael Walters. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Friday from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
