Hilda Elizabeth Phillips, 89 of Lima, passed away December 31, 2020, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Hilda was born June 9, 1931 in Lima, to Benjamin and Gladys (Whitney) Rudibaugh, who preceded her in death. In January 1952, she married Robert Phillips, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1982.
Hilda was a graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and Apollo Career Center. She worked as a nurse at Luke Medical Center for 25 years and for Dr. Waldron for five years. Hilda was an avid reader and she loved staying with her friends at the lake and traveling with her sister. Hilda enjoyed playing cards with her friends, going to lunch with her church group and spending time with her family; you could always find her at her grandkids’ sporting events.
Hilda is survived by her children, Karen (Dennis) Burden, Robert (Lynne) Phillips, Patti (Clyde) Breitigan, Juli Phillips and Lori (Michael) Keith; step-Son, David Phillips; daughter-in-law, Cindy Phillips; grandchildren, Brian Burden, Ryan (Ben) Phillips, Adam (Alyssa) Phillips, Jennifer (Ty) Brenning, Jason (Nicole) Phillips, Jeni (Bryan) Breitigan, Trey (Michelle) Breitigan, Jacob (Tory) Breitigan, Jared Breitigan, Brett (Natalie) Keith, Brittany (Sam Smith) Keith; step-grandson, Mark (Rebecca) Phillips; 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Richard Rudibaugh and her sister, Gloria Rudibaugh.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Steven Phillips and step-grandson, Matthew Phillips.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Gary Hohman to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Due to the current pandemic, Covid-19 guidelines must be adhered to in the funeral home; masks and social distancing are required.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
