Hershel Douglas “Doug” Wright, age 74, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023. Doug was born March 10, 1948, in Lima, OH, to Hershel and Oma (Holbrook) Wright who preceded him in death. On July 27, 2001 he married Mary Lou (Bertke) Wright who survives.
In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his son, Adam Wright of Houston, TX, a sister, Carol (Mike) Duling, many nieces and a nephews and his former spouse, Nancy (Younkman) Wright. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Wright, a sister, Dolores (Tom) Truman and a brother, Larry Wright.
Doug was a 1966 graduate of the Allen East High School and the Wright State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. He was a veteran of the U.S Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He held the rank of Sergeant and was stationed at the R.A.F. Alconbury Base in England. Doug started his business career with Peachtree Fabrics then Barrow Fabric. He also started several successful businesses and retired in 2018.
Following Doug’s wishes there will be no services at this time. He will eventually be buried with full military honors in a national cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran’s Food Pantry. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
