Helen M. Grothouse, 93 of Lima, passed away November 5, 2021, at 3:20 pm, The Greens at Lima Convalescent Home with her loving family by her side.

Helen was born July 28, 1928 in Lima to Joseph and Lucille (Martz) Wiechart, who preceded her in death.

Helen was a 1946 graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School in Lima and pioneered her way in a man’s world, working for an attorney for seven years, then ExCello for over 35 years. Her first job was a as typist in the Lima operation and she retired from the Michigan headquarters as the Wage and Benefits Manager of the Aerospace Division. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Elks BPOE #54. Active in many service leagues and industry associations, she enjoyed bowling, golf and knitting. She loved and treasured her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She never missed a birthday or special event in their lives. Even her nieces’ and nephews’ friends knew her as Aunt Helen. Even though they knew she loved them, she told the truth in her views in clear language, often not wasting many words. Helen had your back and always spoke the truth. Aunt Helen, a force to be reckoned with, held high standards for herself and all those around her.

She is survived by her sister, Pat (Arnold) Musto; brother, Richard J. Wiechart and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her brother, V.J. “Tom” (Maralyn) Wiechart; sister, Jean (Roger) Fisher and her sister-in-law, Ann Wiechart.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Lima with Father Kent Kaufman to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Lima Central Catholic Educational Foundation or St. Rita’s Hospice.
