Harold “Si” F. Simon, age 94 of Lima, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2021, at 4:40 p.m. at The Springs of Lima.

Si was born May 9, 1926 in Ft. Wayne, IN, to George and Hulda (Brockman) Simon who preceded him in death. On Jan. 12, 1985 he married Phyllis (Dunlap) Simon who survives.

Also surviving are his children: Scott (Carol) Simon of Ft. Wayne and Kimberly Probst of Aiken, SC; Phyllis’ children: George “Terry” (Beth) Lohr and Jeff Lohr both of Lima and Tonja (Todd) Braun of Bellefontaine; and the following grandchildren: Alex (Carlie) Freeman, Zachary Simon, Sierra (Steffen) Shannon, Alyssa Lohr, Caleb (Summer) Lohr, Emily Lohr, Chase Braun, Cole (Anya) Braun and Cassidy Braun; stepgrandchildren: Michael (Liz) Sarno, Jason (Katie) Sarno and Amy (Joel) Jackson; fifteen great-grandchildren and a sister, LaVern Barr of St. Cloud, FL.

He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Freeman.

Si was a field manager for IBM and retired after 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96. He was a past life member of BPOE Lodge 54 and the FOE Aerie 370. He was a member of SERTOMA and was Sertoman of the Year. He enjoyed going to Thompson Lake in Michigan and Ft. Myers, Florida. He traveled the world and saw many things. He also enjoyed skiing. He was a longtime usher and member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services on Friday, Mar. 5, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Mar. 6, 2021 in the funeral home with Rev. Robert Gibson to officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida following the service with military rites by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 1275.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
