Gloria J. (Curl) Bowers, 88 of Elida, passed away February 4, 2022, at The Greens at Lima Convalescent Home.

Gloria was born January 25, 1934 in Lima, to Alva and Mabel (Fowler) Curl, who preceded her in death. On June 2, 1950, she married Donald Bowers, who preceded her in death in 2016.

Gloria attended Lima South High School and was a homemaker. She was an active member of Lima Baptist Temple where she had taught Sunday school for the Encourager Class. Gloria started the church lending library and loved helping in the nursery. Her faith was very important to her and her family and friends take solace in knowing she is with Jesus. Gloria enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking; she made wonderful noodles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Gloria is survived by her children, Don (Patty) Bowers, Patti (Jim) Foster, Bill (Vickie) Bowers, Gerry (Teresa) Bowers and Mary (Rick) Kirkendall; grandchildren, Bryan (Brandi) Bowers, Holly (Mike) Armstrong, Katie (Steve) Ballah, Megan (Matt) Gulley, Charity (Brian) Hoffman, Gideon (Courtney) Foster, Adam Bowers, April (Gary) Clarke, Jacob (Lindsay) Bowers, Ethan (Amber) Bowers, Kelsey Kirkendall and Kierstin Kirkendall; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law, Josephine Williams and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah Foster and her siblings, Annie (Burdette) Place, Harold “John” Curl, Leota (Homer) Bowers, Bill (Maxine) Curl, Carl (Robynell) Curl and Lester Curl.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Rescue Mission or the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio.
