Gloria F. Rudibaugh, 83 of Lima, formerly of Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, went to her heavenly home on May 28, 2021, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Gloria was born November 4, 1937 in Lima, to Benjamin and Gladys (Whitney) Rudibaugh, who preceded her in death.
Gloria was a 1955 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and went on to graduate with degrees from The Ohio State University and Old Dominion University. Right after high school, she graduated from St. Rita’s Nursing School and was a registered nurse for many years. She lived in Virginia Beach and Norfolk,VA for a large portion of her life where she had many friends and most recently ran the LPN Program at Norfolk Tech Vocational Center; after she retired, she moved back to Lima to be with family. Gloria loved traveling, especially going on cruises. She was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple and enjoyed many activities with her Sunday School Group in Virginia Beach. Gloria looked forward to her once a month outing with her lunch-bunch classmates, playing cards with friends and family and she adored animals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.
Gloria is survived by her brother, Richard Rudibaugh of Chesapeake, VA; nieces and nephews, Karen (Dennis) Burden, Rob (Lynne) Phillips, Juli Phillips, Patti (Clyde) Breitigan, Lori (Mike) Keith and Cindy Phillips; 11 great-nieces and nephews; 11 great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great niece.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Hilda Phillips; nephew, Steven Phillips, sister-in-law, LaVerne Rudibaugh and brother-in-law, Robert Phillips.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Gary Hohman to officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society or the Lima Baptist Temple.
