Gladys Ruth Scarberry, age 80, passed away surrounded by her 3 children on December 7, 2021, at 12:35 am, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Gladys was born June 24, 1941, in Jackson, OH, to Garland and Cora M. (Heading) Sharp who preceded her in death. On July 31, 1959, she married Arnold R. Scarberry who preceded her in death on September 9, 2019.
Gladys was a homemaker and was focused on raising her family. She and her husband were also very proud that they were foster parents to several children for more than 10 years. Gladys also dearly loved her beloved poodle “Teddy”.
Gladys is survived by her children: Cora J. (Shannon Nichols) Scarberry and Tim L. Scarberry both of Lima, OH and Brandy L. Scarberry of Decatur, IN, eleven grandchildren 1 great grandson, 2 sisters in-law: Kay Sharp of Pomeroy, OH and Evelyn Sharp of Springfield, OH. She was preceded in death by her son, Arnold Wayne Scarberry, former son in-law Ed Muench, siblings: Bill Sharp, Paul Sharp, Abe Sharp, Jack Sharp, Pauline (Larry) Linton and Margaret Osborne.
There will be a graveside service held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jerry Burton. Friends may visit for one hour prior to the service in the cemetery mausoleum on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
